Fred Barall, NFSA’s Senior Vice President of Industrial Relations and General Counsel, leads the Association’s labor relations function. Fred is assisted by Jim Lynch, Vice President of Industrial Relations and Corporation Counsel.

     Fred and Jim collaborate with various committees of contractors nationwide to negotiate all of NFSA’s labor contracts. NFSA has collective bargaining relationships with 17 local unions across the country. They also support member contractors on a wide variety of contract administration and grievance/arbitration issues.

     Fred and Jim serve as management trustees on various trust funds providing benefits (Pension, Health and Welfare, etc.) to thousands of the contractors’ unionized employees.

      In total, NFSA’s collective bargaining agreements and employee benefits trust funds cover approximately 20,000 individuals.

     Both Fred and Jim are attorneys who are admitted to practice law in New York. They each have over thirty years of experience in labor relations and legal matters. In addition to providing advice to member contractors on labor issues, they offer legal counsel to NFSA and its staff on a variety of general corporate business issues.

     In addition to his NFSA experience, Fred previously managed labor relations efforts at well known companies such as General Electric Co., Lockheed Martin Corporation, PG&E National Energy Group, The Baltimore Sun and Armstrong World Industries. For his part, Jim has extensive experience as a local union vice president and member of the executive board of the Service Employees International Union, AFL-CIO.

     Rounding out NFSA’s labor relations team is Sandra Danzi who handles the administrative details. Sandy was employed for many years by New York City’s teachers union.
