Current IRC Status Reports: Delaware only has three counties (New Castle, Kent & Sussex), which adopt the code independently with the exception of incorporated cities who also adopt the codes independently. New Castle is looking toward adopting the 2009 IRC intact. Kent County is the most developing county right now and has strong builders’ influence. However; Kent County is looking toward adopting the 2009 IRC intact. Also the State Capital, The City of Dover, wants to adopt the 2009 IRC intact. Obviously Kent County will be a fight. Sussex County usually adopts the codes after the other two counties. Therefore, there has been no activity in Sussex. We are monitoring the state with the assistance of the Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office |
