Current IRC Status Reports: Code adoption process delayed until the next ICC / IRC code cycle. The commission decided to not review IRC 2009 . They will wait until the 2011 cycle. I will continue to encourage educational efforts in KY. I'm meeting with KY State Fire Marshal to develop a working relationship. Things are on the move in Kentucky. Foremer Fire Chief Russ Sanders along with other Kentucky Fire Officilas are capaturing editoral and newspaper headlines as well as vidio media opertunities to raise awarness as to the value of residential fire sprinklers. Russ did an outstanding job of making the case for sprinklers with the Louisville KY media. Some new life to the residential fire sprinkler debate in Kentucky was brought about by an editorial and media coverage event coordinated by Kentucky resident Russ Sanders, NFPA Regional Manager and Former Fire Chief from Louisville. The efforts of fire officials, active and retired can make the difference on a state by state basis. Thanks to Russ and all of the fire officials in Kentucky who are committed and working to improve residential fire safety in their state.
