This department serves as NFSA's primary liason to fire and public policy organizations. In carrying out this function, the Director is currently our representative to the Congressional Fire Safety Insitute, Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition, North American Coalition for Fire and Life Safety Education and serves as Chairman of Solutions 2000 for High Risk Populations for the Coalition, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the NFPA Education Section. The Director monitors and provides both technical and educational resources in support of legislative initiatives for high rise retrofit and residential fire sprinkler requirements. During 2000, the NFSA implemented a Sprinkler Watch Attach Team (SWAT) to mobilize all necessary resources to deal with major issues that may arise in the fire sprinkler industry. The Director is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Association in the event that SWAT is activated. The Association relies upon the Director to maintain liason with TV Access and to manage its Major Fire Protocol to ensure that appropriate educational information is provided to the media when necessary. |
