Dave brings more than 35 years
of fire protection experience to the Florida Fire Sprinkler Association. He
assumed the position of Florida Regional Manager on April 1, 2007 after serving
as NFSA’s Great Plains Regional Manager since January 2006.
Prior to coming to NFSA, he served as a Mitigation Team
Leader for FEMA, working in various locations in Mississippi in response to
Hurricane Katrina. Following several years as the Chief of Explosives and
Pyrotechnics at the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office, Dr. Bowman was appointed
Assistant State Fire Marshal for Nevada, a position he held until leaving to
work for FEMA. Earlier in his career, he was a firefighter/paramedic on
the Bucyrus City Fire Department, in Ohio and served on active duty in the U.S.
Coast Guard. Following his tour in the Coast Guard, he served for a number
of years as an Artillery Officer in the U.S. Army Reserves.
In his career in the field of
fire and life safety, he has lectured both nationally and internationally on a
variety of topics and worked for several years as a private sector consultant to
several companies in the People’s Republic of China and the Pacific Rim on
explosive and pyrotechnics safety and regulation. He holds several degrees,
including a Ph.D. in Fire Safety Management.
Dave was promoted to the
additional position of Associate Director of Regional Operations in January
2008. He is responsible for supervising the Regional Managers who are located
in the eastern half of the United States. |
