The ECONOMY may be TOUGH but Fire Sprinkler Contractors and Fitters are TOUGHER!!!!! The Great Lakes Division Top Tech Team is in Place and ready to GO! All that is left now is to bring the TROPHY Home!! Work to adopt or to defend for future adoption, the 2009 International Residential Code which includes the 2011 residential fire sprinkler requirement, is underway in almost every state in the Nation. The effort is taking place on three fronts, Legislative, Administrative Code Adoption processes or Local Ordinance consideration. No matter where the action is in your state it takes the State, Regional or Local Firefighters, Inspectors and Fire Chiefs to make it happen. NFSA Regional Managers are a resource to these groups. I encourage you to read the Residential Fire Sprinklers and Housing Economics white paper to better understand the Pro-Residential Fire Sprinkler arguments. <click here> Several NFSA Members in the Great Lakes Region have expressed
concern about compliance and quality of fire sprinkler inspection, testing and
maintenance being done in region. Considerable time and energy will be spent on
this issue over the next several months.
