Robert Kleinheinz is an experienced fire professional with over thirty years of service for the Libertyville Fire Department. Throughout the years, Robert has held the positions of a full time Inspector for the Libertyville Prevention Bureau, Lake County Quadrant (4) Divemaster and evidence and hazardous materials technician for Lake County. Most recently Robert held the position as the Libertyville Fire Department’s Assistant Chief in charge of the Fire Prevention Bureau. His duties included inspections, plan reviews, public education, code development and fire investigations along with implementing a new Residential Fire and Sprinkler Code adopted by the Village of Libertyville in 2005.

In 2005, Robert had the opportunity to collaborate with the Home Fire Safety Council in developing a CD with Rob Hazelton explaining the advantages for contractors when building with sprinklers. In 2006, Robert helped produce a segment with Peg Paul and the CBS Early Show pertaining to home sprinklers and smoke detectors in which Robert was in charge of all details pertaining to the segment including setting up the live burn and insuring that the system was installed properly. Most recently in January of 2007, Robert was chosen to appear in a full page national advertisement supporting the Home Fire Sprinkler Council. The advertisement appeared in magazines such as FireHouse, Fire Rescue and Fire Chief.

Senate Bill 495 is now law and that means that your system inspectors need to either be a Nicet level 2 or must have gone through an approved apprentice program by 2009.

1.       Senate Bill 1384 is the PE Act and this act took effect on August 24th 2009 not Jan 1st 2010 as was thought.
