Dominick presently is an NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist, a NY certified Code Enforcement Official and a contract instructor for the ICC (Intl Codes Council). He is a former Executive Board Director of the NFPA Fire Service Section and presently serves on the NFPA 1031 AND NFPA 101/5000END Committees. Dominick is a former Fire Captain for the Allendale FD and a Fire Inspector with the Allendale Fire Prevention Bureau as well as a lead Fire Instructor at the Bergen County Fire Academy all located in NJ. He was also a volunteer advocate with the PA Fire and Emergency Services Institute. He was a safety consultant in private industry also. Dominick has attended courses at the Bergen County Law and Public Safety Institute, Bergen County Fire Academy and the FEMA/USFA National Fire Academy. Dominick is a Task Manager for Regional Operations in Green Construction, Water Fee and Supply Issues, and Tort Reform. He is a member of the US Green Building Council and the American Water Works Association where he serves on the Fire Protection Committee. Dominick is also a US Army veteran.

2010 NY Legislative Overview

 A00578   Requires SUNY and CUNY authorities to install and retrofit buildings with sprinkler systems.

  • As with identical Bills since 2001, stuck in committee(s) and no action.

A05513   Directs the commissioner of parks, recreation and historic preservation to make loans for the installation of sprinkler systems in historic buildings.
 

  • As with an identical Bill in 2007, stuck in committee(s) and no action.

 

A05514   Requires a reduction in the premium for fire insurance on a historic site with a sprinkler system and owned by a nonprofit corporation.
 

  • Stuck in committee since January, no action.

 

A10616   Requires the installation and testing of fire equipment and sprinkler systems at pet stores.
 

  • Introduced late in session and not moving, but I thought this would gain momentum after the recent Pet Store fires in NY City that is bringing action by City Council and in hopes that Albany will take action also. This Bill is still sitting in committee.
  • I have been in close communication with Assemblyman Kellner in regards to cleaning up the Bill language which may conflict with City and State building and fire code language.

 

A11292   Requires educational facilities to be constructed or retrofitted with automatic sprinkler systems; appropriation.
 

  • Introduced late in session (May 2010) and is in committee, no action.
