Doyle Sutton became Regional Manager
of the Southwest Region in January 2007. In January 2008 the region was
realigned to include the states of
Colorado, Arizona and Nevada.
Previously, Sutton served
four years as Nevada State Fire Marshal. During his service, from 2001 to 2005,
he was appointed by Governor Guinn to serve on the Nevada Homeland Security
Commission and the Nevada State Emergency Response Commission. He is a member of
the Nevada Fire Chief’s Association and the Fire Prevention Association of
Nevada. He served on the faculty staff at Truckee Meadows Community College in
Reno as the Commander of the Northern Nevada Fire Rescue Academy, teaching and
training current and future firefighters. He also served on the Underwriters
Laboratory Consumer Product Safety Commission and was a member of the NFPA
Building Fire Safety Section. Sutton began his fire service career in the Reno,
Nevada area with the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, retiring in 1997.
During this time he served as a Battalion Chief, Administrative Chief and
Training Chief.
He received his education in Fire Science Technology through the Truckee Meadows
Community College and completed the Public Management Program at the University
of Nevada

Reno. He is a highly decorated combat veteran who served with the U.S. Army in
Vietnam. He also served in the Nevada Air National Guard Fire Department in
Reno.
He and his wife Ann have three grown children and recently adopted two boys,
Sebastian now 4-1/2 years old and Larry who is almost 4 years old. They are
proud to be foster parents to newborn infants and currently are caring for a
one-year old girl. |
