October 3/1-Day NFPA 13 Sprinkler System Installation Requirements

There are hundreds of types of sprinklers in use today. Determining where to locate them can be a complex task. They need to be spaced properly and installed in specific locations to ensure coverage of the protected area and located far enough away from obstructions to ensure that the spray pattern can adequately develop and control or suppress a fire. The rules that govern this complex matrix of decisions are found in Chapter 8 of NFPA 13 on Installation Requirements. This fast paced and interactive seminar will guide the participant through series of decisions and requirements that lead to compliance with NFPA 13 and ensure the system will operate properly when needed.

PARTICIPANT MUST COME PREPARED WITH A CURRENT COPY OF NFPA 13.

October 4/1-Day Designing with Fire Sprinklers

Specifically created for design professionals, this program identifies and explains over 100 design options using sprinklers which will permit design flexibility, save money and increase life safety in all buildings. Attendees will gain the knowledge necessary to assess the adequacy and performance of current basic building and fire code requirements. Participants will also consider proven strategies for increasing fire protection without increasing construction costs. The seminar will cover the following areas that concern the design professional:

• New advances in fire sprinkler technology
• Specific building code applications
• The architect’s use of NFPA 13, 13R and 13D
• Sprinkler obstructions
• Concealed spaces
• Site and plan review cautions
• The economics of fire sprinklers

Attendees will not only gain the knowledge necessary of the current requirements of codes and standards but will leave with solutions that benefit the relationship of the architect and fire sprinkler contractor. Participants will learn how to use the Fire Sprinkler Guide which identifies the time, money, and life saving code requirements and guides them through several national model codes.
