June 11/Fire Sprinklers in the IBC (NYDOS#49-6031)

Fire sprinklers are on the mind of every construction designer and decision maker. Fire Sprinklers in the IBC is a seminar that introduces the participant to fire sprinkler requirements in the International Building Code and International Fire Code for new construction. The fire sprinkler concept and designs occur in the building code over 125 times in over 17 chapters. This seminar will discuss where fire sprinklers are located throughout the IBC and what is required for all types of construction and occupancies. Participants will get more comfortable navigating the IBC and become familiar with IBC terminology. This seminar is designed for those who have experience in codes and standards but is also an excellent introduction to the IBC and fire sprinklers for those new in architecture, fire sprinkler design/contracting and code enforcement.

June 12/Inspection, Testing & Maintenance for the Building Owner/Manager (NYDOS#49-6143)

The building owner is the single most important individual in the inspection, testing and maintenance of fire protection systems.  NFPA 25, Standard of Inspection Testing and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems contains numerous and detailed requirements that are the responsibility of the building owner.  Yet many building owners are not familiar with these requirements or with the systems in their building.  This 1-day seminar will provide and introduction to system types, the owners requirements and limits when it comes to inspection, testing and maintenance.   Through discussion of the administrative chapters (1-4) and the systems chapters (5-12) of NFPA 25 and activities centering on system documentation this seminar will provide the attendee with guidance on developing and continuing an effective inspection, testing and maintenance program.
