August 12, 2014//Fire Pumps for Fire Protection

Utilizing NFPA 20, Standard for the Installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection this one-day program guides the participant through the basic operating principles of fire pumps; the requirements for the various components that make up a fire pump package and addresses the requirements for acceptance testing for the pump to ensure proper operation.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this seminar the participant will be able to:
1. Describe the types of fire pumps and their applications
2. Identify fire pump components
3. Locate the requirements for fire pumps in NFPA 20
4. Discuss installation requirements of electric motor and engine driven fire pumps
5. Apply acceptance testing requirements for fire pumps and related equipment

August 13, 2014//Fire Service Mains & Their Appurtenances

This full day seminar describes the responsibility of the contractor, owner and authority having jurisdiction for the proper installation of Fire Service Mains & Their Appurtenances as addressed in NFPA 24.

Learning Objectives:


1. Identify the standards and regulations that govern the installation of private fire service mains & their appurtenances.
2. Describe water supply sources, including fire department connections and the requirements governing them.
3. Identify & describe the various valves used in private service mains and the requirements governing them.
4. Identify, describe & explain the purpose and types of hose houses, hydrants & master streams
5. Describe the components of underground fire service mains and the installation requirements associated with them.
