March 10, 2015/Rough & Final Inspections of Sprinkler Systems
(BBS2014-340 BO, BI, FPI)

This one day seminar provides attendees with vital information on how to conduct the field inspections for new fire sprinkler and standpipe systems.

Fire sprinklers and standpipes are installed in stages and inspections are required before commencing to the next stage. The codes require periodic on-site inspections as the work progresses, to be installed according to the approved construction documents. This work is required to be inspected and approved before being covered or before the system is commissioned. This course points out the visual and physical inspection requirements of the latest codes and standards.

Total Instructional Contact Minutes: 390 min. (0.7 CEU)

Bring latest edition of NFPA 13, NFPA 14 and IBC or IFC to presentation. Bring materials for writing and taking notes.

March 11, 2015/Fire Pumps for Fire Protection
(BBS2014-331 BO, MPE, BI, FPI)

Utilizing NFPA 20, Standard for the Installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection this one-day program guides the participant through the basic operating principles of fire pumps; the requirements for the various components that make up a fire pump package and addresses the requirements for acceptance testing for the pump to ensure proper operation.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this seminar the participant will be able to:
1. Describe the types of fire pumps and their applications
2. Identify fire pump components
3. Locate the requirements for fire pumps in NFPA 20
4. Discuss installation requirements of electric motor and engine driven fire pumps
5. Apply acceptance testing requirements for fire pumps and related equipment

March 12, 2015/Understanding, Applying & Enforcing NFPA 25
(BBS2014-079 BO, BI, FPI)

This highly interactive full day seminar describes the requirements for properly maintaining a water based fire protection system in accordance with NFPA 25. The seminar clearly describes the responsibilities for compliance & record keeping. It describes the specific scope of the standard, and identifies the various ways in which information related to changes in the system are handled. It describes the various Tables used in the standard, their specific purposes, and when to use which Tables. It involves the attendees in a significant number of exercises to describe various problems encountered, identify the proper section(s) of the standard that deals with it, and discuss how to deal with issues not covered by the standard that may still be encountered.

Total Instructional Contact Minutes: 420 min. (0.7 CEUs and 7CPD)

Learning Outcomes: At the conclusion of this seminar the participant will be able to:
1. Explain the areas to which the standard applies.
2. Explain areas to which the standard does not apply, and how those areas are addressed.
3. Explain the general definitions used in the standard that are common to all NFPA documents.
