As a life safety system, fire sprinkler systems need to remain operational following an earth-quake event. NFPA 13 has guidelines in place to seismically protect the piping system. The rules provide both flexibility and rigidity so that the system can move with the building struc-ture it is protecting against fire.
Learn when seismic protection is needed for a building. In addition, the components used to protect against earthquake motion and the necessary calculations will be reviewed.
