Inspection & Testing for the Sprinkler Industry


PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A MODIFIED 2-DAY CLASS FROM THE 3-DAY CLASS. THIS IS BASED ON THE CALIFORNIA EDITION.

 

This interactive seminar will provide an introduction to the various types of water-based fire protection systems as well as an in-depth exploration of the codes, standards and other documents that are used during the inspection and testing process. The seminar is designed for individuals interested in obtaining certification as an inspection and testing technician for water-based fire protection systems.

Learning Outcomes:
The seminar is divided into two parts. The Learning Outcomes for each part are as follows.
At the conclusion of this seminar participants will be able to

  1. Identify the components of sprinklers, fire pumps, standpipe systems, water storage tanks, and fire service mains and describe their function
  2. Identify the requirements for inspection and testing in NFPA 25 as they apply to various systems and components.  
  3. Recognize potential workplace hazards.
  4. Recognize various potential problems with systems and explain them.
  5. Identify the appropriate section of NFPA 25 that addresses the problem.
  6. Develop a preliminary record of system problems.

Bring your 2016 Edition of the sprinkler standards a notebook and a highlighter. This full day seminar discusses the significant changes to the sprinkler standards. The seminar will go chapter-by-chapter and not just identify the new requirements, but discuss the reasons supporting them and the issues behind them as well as their potential impact.

Learning Outcomes:  

At the conclusion of this seminar the participant will be able to:

 

1. Identify the changes to the 2016 Edition of NFPA 13

2. Identify the changes to the 2016 Edition of NFPA 13D

3. Identify the changes to the 2016 Edition of NFPA 13R

4. Describe the impact that these changes have on system design and installation
