Protecting Your Investment…Ensuring Sprinkler System Reliability through NFPA 25 Enforcement

Communities across the country have a lot invested in the high degree of reliability of fire sprinklers and other water-based fire protection systems. NFPA 25 was developed specifically to help ensure that reliability. In this highly interactive seminar exclusively for authorities having jurisdiction (both fire and building officials), participants will learn the history behind NFPA 25, the scope and purpose of the standard, and how to verify compliance with it from a “best-practices” perspective. Attendees will also become familiar with roles and responsibilities of stakeholders, how the frequencies in the standard guide the inspection, testing, & maintenance (ITM) tasks, and how best to deal with issues not covered by the standard but may still be encountered during the inspection and testing process.

Intended Audience: Authorities having jurisdiction, fire and building code inspectors, fire service personnel involved in or planning to become involved in fire prevention.

Learning Outcomes:

At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:

1.     Understand the history of NFPA 25.

2.     Identify and discuss the foundational requirements for ITM in the model building and fire codes.

3.     Discuss the roles and responsibilities of the sprinkler contractor, the authority having jurisdiction, and the building owner.

4.     Understand the purpose of NFPA 25 and the limits of its scope.

5.     Asses the level of compliance with NFPA 25 in their jurisdiction.
