Backflow Preventers
and Sprinkler Systems – Basic – James D. Lake
Backflow is the
process by which water from within a system that is connected to a potable
water supply "flows backward” from the system into the water supply
piping.
Because sprinkler systems are
typically connected to the municipal potable water supply there is concern on
the part of the water purveyors regarding the potential for sprinkler system
water to backflow into the potable system resulting in contamination.
This seminar will explore the background of
concerns on the part of water authorities; the subsequent impact of regulations
on sprinkler system installations, and how the impact can be mitigated.
